Shopping at splitkb.com internationally is now even easier: some of our shipping options now include the delivery and duty fees, meaning you'll no longer be invoiced for these by the shipping carrier separately. No more surprises. Nice!
What is "Delivery and Duties Paid"?
It means that we collect the fees required from you directly, instead of having the carrier do that separately. We then make a special shipping label so the carrier knows that we're responsible for paying the customs fees. This does a few things:
- You won't get a separate invoice for customs fees, any fees are already included in the shipping option.
- Faster delivery. The package won't be hold up because of fee payments. Sometimes, the package would be held while the carrier would await payment of the customs fees. Since the carrier knows that we'll pay for it instead of the receiver, there won't be any payment-related holdups anymore.
I live in the European Union. What changes for me?
Nothing much! Duties will not apply in Europe, and there are no import fees either. We do collect taxes, but within Europe that's part of the product prices and not of the shipping fee.
You will see the discount you're getting more clearly and you'll get a more accurate shipping estimate for some shipping methods, too. This is an example of rates you might see:
What about other shipping methods?
At the moment, Delivery and Duties Paid shipping is only supported by FedEx. We're working to get this enabled for DHL Express too, but the integration we're using doesn't yet support live rates for DHL Express, so we'll have to wait until it is supported.
If you live outside of the European Union and choose for a non-delivery duty paid shipping option, you may be invoiced separately. With express carriers such as DHL Express, it's pretty much for certain that you'll receive a separate invoice.
Usually, the rate with duties included will be more affordable in the end, even if the method without duties might be cheaper during checkout. We recommend choosing a method with Delivery Duties Paid if one is available.

The wireless Halcyon project is moving along! There won't be news about it in this update, other than that production of the parts is currently in progress, so we expect to be able to release the wireless Halcyon controller along with its many accessories within the next three months.
